Coal Valley, Illinois Eleanore E. Smith, age 86, of Savage, MN, formerly of Coal Valley. Died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at Texas Terrace Nursing Home, in St. Louis Park, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 9, 2001 in Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with the Reverend John D. Kepler of First Covenant Church, Moline, officiating. Visitation times are Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Heart Association. The former Eleanore Elizabeth Erickson was born on September 22, 1914 in Moline, the daughter of Ernest and Thora (Eckstrom) Erickson. Ms. Erickson married Gerald Wayne Smith on April 7, 1934 in Moline, and he preceded her in death. Prior to marriage Mrs. Smith was a beautician in Coal Valley. She was a past member of First Covenant Church in Moline, Order of the Eastern Star, Coal Valley, and was a past worthy matron. She enjoyed working with ceramics, reading, crocheting and watching mystery shows on televison. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gayle and Carol Smith of Charlotte, NC.; daughter, Virginia Fitzgerald of Savage, MN.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Edward Seidel of Rock Island. Her son, Timothy Smith, her husband, parents, and a brother John Donald Erickson preceded her in death.
