Eleanor B. Tallitsch, 93, of Rock Island, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, and Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 01, 2008, in Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Following Eleanor?s wishes, there will be no services held. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ in Moline, or YMCA Camp MacLean in Burlington, Wisconsin. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Eleanor Boyde was born May 4, 1914, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Fredrick and Ella (Leese) Boyde. She married John Tallitsch on September 3, 1938, in Chicago. He died August 3, 1999.
Eleanor worked as comptroller for Pullman Coach Company and later, Montgomery Ward. She was active in the PTA for the Chicago public schools, volunteered for the Salvation Army, and was on the hospital auxillary in Mountain Home.
Eleanor is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John F. and Linda Tallitsch of Vermilion, Ohio, and Robert B. and Mary Tallitsch of Moline, and grandchildren, Thomas and Carrie Tallitsch of Hamilton Township, New Jersey, Sarah and Tom Jankovic of North Ridgeville, Ohio, William Tallitsch and Julie of Philladelphia, Pennsylvania, Steven Tallitsch of Davenport, Iowa, and Molly Tallitsch of Moline. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Boyde.
