Eleanor (Ellie) F. Swartout, 94, of Moline, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 pm, Saturday, March 9th, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Point in Moline. Pastor Stan Gustafson will officiate a memorial service at 3pm. Per her request, cremation was accorded.
Eleanor was born August 1, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to Russell and Mary (Stregiel) Sharer. She married Robert Shipp in November 1945, and later married Richard Swartout.
Ellie worked as a cook for many years. Ellie was active in her Home Extension Club. She was a member of the Country Music Association. Ellie was a 41 year member of the FOE #956 Auxiliary, in which she served as Madam President for 8 years. She loved cooking and sharing those recipes with everyone. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Ellie will be missed by all.
Survivors include children, Barry (Fay) Shipp of Moline, Rhonda Penn of Peoria, and Roy (Kathryn) Shipp, of Bettendorf, IA, daughter-in-law, Michele Shipp of Moline, nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Francis Debord, and son Robert (Bob) Shipp.
