Elaine H. Ohlsen

Elaine H. Ohlsen, 94, of Annapolis, Maryland, formerly of Hampton, Illinois and East Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, February 21, 2019, in Annapolis.

Services will be held and announced this summer. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Elaine's memory.

The former Elaine Hunter was born May 10, 1924, in East Moline, the daughter of Raymond C. and Margaret (Allison) Hunter. She was the third of seven generations to attend Wells Elementary School in East Moline and went on to graduate from the "old" United Township High School. She also graduated from MIC Business College. She married Harold M. Ohlsen on February 14, 1943, in Moline. He died August 18, 2009.

Elaine did secretarial work for Montgomery Elevator, Twin States Components (a division of Dimock and Gould), Ametek, and retired from the affirmative action department at Deere and Co. in 1986. After retirement she loved her time helping out at the John Deere Pavilion.

She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, Home Extension, Women in Construction, Hampton Historical Society, Bix Beiderbecke Society, and Catfish Jazz Society. She was also past-president of the Wells School and East Moline Council PTA. She loved boating with her husband.

Elaine is survived by two daughters, Priscilla (Robert) Kiehl of Akron, Ohio, and Margo Guinn of Annapolis; grandchildren, George (Ann) Guinn, Jr., Rabecca (Chris) Rangel, Valerie Stoehr, Melanie (Charles) McKean, and Zachary (Maureen) Kiehl; 9 great-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Yvonne (Leonard) Janowski of Bellingham, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son-in-law, George Guinn, Sr.
