Edward E. Short Sr.

Edward E. Short Sr., 78, of Matherville, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023, surrounded by family, at Harmony Health, in Davenport, Iowa.

Services are Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in East Moline, Illinois. Those wishing to attend the services can meet at Trimble Funeral Home and Crematory, 701 12^th Street, Moline, Illinois, at 2:30 PM to follow in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or The Wounded Warriors Project.

Edward Eugene Short Sr. was born June 4, 1944, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Edward A. and Erma I. (Hargis) Short. He married Lola Noakes on March 12, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He got degrees from Lain Technical Institue of Indiana, Blackhawk College, and attended Purdue University. He worked as a draftsman for JI Case for over 14 years and John Deere for 9 years.

He was a member of the United Community Church of Matherville, Illinois. Edward enjoyed antique cars, coaching softball & baseball, reading technical magazines, and being outdoors. He never met a stranger, and you could often find him socializing with his coffee clutch friends at the Little Store of Matherville. Above all else, Edward loved to spend time with his family, and especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Emma, dance.  

Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Lola; children, Edward (Luana) Short Jr. and Edie (Mark) Rogers; grandchildren, Emma, Jordan, Cassie, Jenica, Jamison, and Joshua; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Ron) Jacobson; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherry Mitchell; and his favorite aunt, Lucille Furlow.
