Edward L. Bladel

Edward L. Bladel, Jr., 98, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, December 7, 2020, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Services to celebrate Ed’s life will announced in the future. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the family.

Edward Lee Bladel Jr. was born March 26, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward Sr. and Florence (Mosher) Bladel. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II earning an Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

He married Michalena “Maxine” Homa. She passed away in 1982. He later married Marilyn Dickey.

He worked at Aetna Casualty as a supervisor for many years, and also for the Rock Island Bridge Commission. Ed was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley, Moline American Legion Post #246, and the Rock Island VFW. He was a proud supporter of the Republican Party.

He is survived by two children, Linda (Terry) Jared of Coal Valley, and Roger (Patricia) Bladel of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; four grandchildren, Kerry (Michael) Haut, Ryan Jared, Melissa Brejcha, and Matthew Bladel; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Stacey Bladel; a granddaughter, Erin Jared; and a great-great-grandson, Angel.
