Edward H. Connelly, 81, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Thursday December 19, 2024, at Quartet Senior Living.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities Chapter will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot of Trimble Point, 701 12th St, Moline, at 1:45p.m. Memorials may be made to the Habitat for Humanity or Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bettendorf.
Born on January 30, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Eugene and Melissa (Gross) Connelly. Edward was a beloved husband, a devoted father, and a cherished friend to many.
Edward served in the United States Navy. His service to his country instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor, values that he carried with him throughout his life. Edward dedicated his professional life to engineering as a senior designer for Alcoa, where his creativity and expertise left a lasting impact.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed building things, helping to build 20 houses for Habitat for Humanity alongside his wife. When not helping others, he could be found on his front porch or back deck birdwatching or looking for planes. He was proud to be one of the Bettendorf Bulldogs “biggest fans”.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Judith Connelly; his daughter, Tina Martin; his son, Eddie Connelly; grandchildren, Taylor and Christopher Martin; and a sister, Cora Gullion He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Connelly and Melissa Ball.
He will be deeply missed by his family, who will remember him for his kindness, wisdom, and the unconditional love he provided.
