Edna Mae Poston, age 90, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the home of her daughter, with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM in First United Presbyterian Church of Moline where she was a member, with the Reverend Edward Borycz and the Reverend A.M. Bruce officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Trimble Funeral Home in Moline. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorials may be given to the church or to Christian Friendliness. The former Edna Mae Ballard was born on July 9, 1912 in Moline, the daughter of Melvin and Hallie Mae (Hart) Ballard. She graduated from Moline High School in 1930 and married Ralph L. Poston on on September 25, 1937 in Moline. Mrs. Poston was the church secretary at First Baptist Church in Moline for 28 years, retiring in 1982. She had also been employed as a medical secretary for 7 years, was the organist and pianist at First United Presbyterian Church in Moline for 30 years, organist at Elim Covenant Church in Moline for 8 years, and substituted at many churches and funeral homes throughout the Quad-Cities. Mrs. Poston held memberships in the; United Presbyterian Woman's Association, Naomi Rebecca Church Circle, Christian Women's Club of Moline, Quad City Organ Club, Silver living Circle of Kings Daughters, Christian Friendliness Auxiliary where she volunteered her time, Quad City Doll Club, Quad City Diabetes Association, and the Bible Study Fellowship at church. She enjoyed; shopping, gardening, crafts, knitting, reading, music, traveling and most importantly were her family and her faith. Survivors for Mrs. Poston include; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Mae and Larry Vande Geest of Moline; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Terrell Poston of Geneseo, Melvin and Donna Poston, and Mark Poston all of Moline; thirteen grandchildren, Mark Hofmann, Tammy Poston, Sean Poston, Scott Poston, Kristi Lynn Poston, Kelly Gray, Brian Poston, Erin Poston, Lori Lynn Bond, Nicolaas Vande Geest, Jonathan Vande Geest, Bill Head, and Pam Welge; fourteen great-grandchildren, Dylan Hofmann, Meghan Bowes, Jacob Poston, Sabrina Poston, Lance Bond, Heather Poston, Zachary Gray, Jordan Gray, Bryce Poston, Eric Poston, McKenzie Head, Brandon Head, Jessica Burbridge, and Jackie Burbridge; a great-great-granddaughter, Aysia Poston; and a special cousin Claudia Main and her children, Benjamin and Amanda.
