Edna A. Gillespie

Edna A. Gillespie, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at MercyOne Centerville Medical Center, Centerville, Iowa.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. 

Edna was born in Melcher Dallas, IA,  the only child of Frank and Cletha (Coolley) Wilson.

Edna was a real tomboy, having been taught to hunt and fish by her dad, and Edna LOVED to fish. She survived to 73 years, mostly due to her stubborn will and sheer determination.

EDNA WAS A TRUE WARRIOR. She had a hard life, with many struggles and setbacks, but never seemed to let that hold her back. She was forgiving to a fault, and for someone so little, she possessed one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know.

Edna married Christopher Gillespie in 2008, he fondly called her "his little scarecrow." He preceded her in death in 2020. Edna was also blessed with 3 children, who she spoke of often, wishing she could see them more. She was kind, thoughtful, positive, a hard worker and a funny gal.

Edna is survived by her 3 children, Irma Wheeler, of Melcher Dallas, IA , Roberta (Robbie) Emery, of Knoxville, IA and Randall (Wendy) Emery of Centerville, IA. and 5 grandchildren.

She and Chris will be buried, together again, in Exline, IA cemetery.
