Edith M. Janes

Edith M. Janes, 94, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Coal Valley, Illinois.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.

The former Edith Mary Bowman was born February 6, 1927, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey and Esther Lehenbauer Bowman. She married Corder K. Janes on July 16, 1950, in Quincy. He died June 10, 1996.

She was a legal secretary at the law office of Wingard and Herb Schultz, Sr. for over 50 years. She was a former member of First Congregational Church, Moline, and the Legal Secretary’s LeGals. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and boating. She especially loved boating with her best friends, Sharon and Jim Nelson.

Edith is survived by four children, Robert and Rose Janes of Juneau, Alaska, Jacquelyn “Jackie” and Richard Utley of Coal Valley, Richard and Julie Janes of Moline, and Kevin and Michele Janes of Florida, Missouri; grandchildren, Heather (Ben) Waters, Michael (Abby) Janes, John Greubel, Alex Janes, Christopher Janes, and Richard (Melissa) Utley, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bowman of Quincy; and nieces and a nephew, Diana Cooley, Deb Lish, Kathy Wiemelt and Walter “Scott” Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corder Janes, a brother, Walter Bowman; and two grandsons, Michael Utley and Anthony Utley.
