Edith Kammerman

February 3, 1931 — September 15, 2008

Edith R. Kammerman, 77, of Milan, joined her Lord in heaven on Monday, September 15, 2008.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with the Reverend Gary Winstead officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Private burial will be in Chapel Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice, the National MS Society, or United Cerebral Palsy.

The former Edith Ruthea Love was born February 3, 1931, in Bowling Township, ¼ mile from where she spent her last 58 years, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (McCaw) Love. She attended Kingdom Grade School and graduated from Sherrard High School. She married Marvin "Bud" Kammerman on March 18, 1950, at Beulah Presbyterian Church.

After his retirement on December 31, 1988, Edith and Bud spent 18 years as snowbirds in Sebring, Florida, in their townhome on Lake Jackson. While wintering in Florida, she attended Spring Lake Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed many special numbers and music under direction of Suzan and Richard Wedig. The music was always great regardless of the number of persons in the choir. She was thankful for the many times Mel and Betty Blaser attended these worship services.

Edith was a fine golfer who didn't like competition but did have three career holes-in-one. Her third hole-in-one came October 22, 2003, in her final round with the Spring Lake Ladies' Golf League in Sebring.

Edith attended Beulah Presbyterian Church for 62 years. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as an elder, deacon, and member of Mariners (who served at many ice cream socials), and she always made herself available to help at weddings, funerals, and potlucks. She was committed to working for her church.

Edith is survived by her husband; sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Kammerman, Tom and Roxanne Kammerman, Scott Kammerman, and Michael Kammerman, all of Milan, grandchildren, Casey and Heather Kammerman, Charles Kammerman, and Samantha Kammerman, a great-granddaughter, Porcha Lynn Kammerman, and a sister, Mary Lou Thames. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Markley, a son, Charles Fredrick Kammerman, and another child who died at birth.

The family thanks God for the life of Edith Kammerman. She will be missed by her family and friends and most of all her husband, who loved her with all his heart.

Edith's favorite hymn was "Because He Lives, I can Face Tomorrow". Her favorite saying repeated by her mother, Ruth, many times is as follows: "There is so much good in the worst of us, And so much bad in the best of us, That it hardly behooves any of us To talk about the rest of us," which is attributed to Kansas Governor Edward Wallis Hoch.

The family would like to thank Trinity Pathway Hospice nurses, c.n.a's, and staff for making Edith's last year as comfortable as possible. They are truly angels of mercy!
