Edgar ''Pete'' Strachan

Matherville, Illinois Edgar "Pete" Strachan, 92, of Matherville, died Friday, December 21, 2001, in Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. The Reverend Carl Stoldt, College Avenue Presbyterian Church, Aledo, will officiate. Burial is in Preemption Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Strachan was born August 22, 1909, in Matherville, the son of William and Elizabeth (Edgar) Strachan. He married Rena M. Holiday on December 7, 1935, in Rock Island. He was a self-employed trucker with the former Mack and Strachan Trucking in Viola, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Matherville Community Church and Preemption Lodge #755, AF & AM, and enjoyed baseball. Pete is survived by his wife, Rena; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Strachan of Palm Harbor, Florida; two grandchildren and their spouses, Tracey and Steve Robbins of Preemption and Shawn and Mary Strachan of Monmouth; and three grandchildren, Austin and Lexie Robbins and Carrie Strachan.
