Earnestine Haymon, 88, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, December 2, 2013, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport, Iowa, with visitation one hour before the services. Burial is 9 a.m. Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery - those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, at 8:45 a.m. Monday.
Earnestine was born February 8, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Morris and Eva Johnson Howard, and was raised by her father and step-mother, Beatrice Tolbert Howard. She married Roscoe Haymon on May 8, 1949, in Robertson, Missouri. She was a licensed beautician and had been employed at Petersen-Harned-von Maur in the bridal department. She was a Deaconess of the church, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and flowers.
Earnestine is survived by her husband, Roscoe; six children, Geraldine McDonald of Washington, DC, Roscoe Haymon, Jr. of Rock Island, Marvin Haymon of Rock Island, Brenda Bragg-Harris and her husband Chuck of Riverside, California, Maurice Haymon of Long Beach, California, and Renaud Haymon of Rock Island; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Deloris Gatlin of Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jacqueline, two sisters and one brother.
