Earl Thomas

Earl Thomas, 88, of Colona, Illinois, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at home.

Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Prior to services, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory with burial in Dayton Corners Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Earl was born February 15, 1928, in Dizney, Kentucky, the son of Pearl and Florence (Middleton) Thomas. He married Hazel Godsey on December 31, 1948, in Corbin, Kentucky. She died November 18, 2012.

He enjoyed shooting pool, riding his bicycle, dancing, and fixing things. He especially loved being with his family.

Earl is survived by sons, Roger Thomas of Colona, and Bill (Donna) Thomas of Moline; grandchildren, Tammy Thomas of Michigan, Nicole Bettis of Colona, and Jeremy (Amber) Bettis of Hampton; two great-granddaughters, Jenna and Haylie; and siblings, Lester, Geraldine, and Wilma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; a daughter, Linda Thomas; a grandson, Jason Thomas, and several brothers and sisters.
