Earl J. “Scotty” Scott, 82, of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport.

A gathering to celebrate Scotty’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Clark’s Ferry Recreation Area, Montpelier, Iowa. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Scotty’s memory.

Earl James Scott was born September 27, 1942, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Clarence Sylvester and Gladys Elizabeth (Dingman) Scott. He married the love of his life, Kennetta Link, on August 30, 1975, in Little York, Illinois. 

He worked as a semi driver for Ruan Transport for over 25 years, spending several of the years with his wife by his side in the semi. The couple also loved camping, spending 12 years as campground hosts and volunteers down in Texas. He also loved gardening and fishing. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Scotty.

Scotty is survived by his beloved wife, Kennetta; three children, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Scott of Ellsworth, Iowa, Christine McFarland of Webster City, Iowa, and Deena (Jeremy White) Scott of Davenport; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Scott; son, Kenneth Paul Scott; son-in-law, Dan McFarland; daughter-in-law, Anissa Scott; two brothers; and one sister.
