Earl Leroy Kinkead, 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Mark DeSutter officiating. Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a Christian Wake Service at 1:45 p.m. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, immediately followed by a luncheon at Friend Circle Club, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Earl was born December 4, 1928, in Moline, the son of Gerald "Jack" and Mary (Timmerman) Kinkead. He married Ella May Spiegel on February 18, 1950, in Moline. He worked at Brenstrom's Gas Station in Moline, Simko Electric, and then Montgomery Elevator before spending 40 years at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company, retiring in 1991.
He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed motorcycles and cars, reading, and working on puzzles.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife of over 68 years, Ella May; four children, Glenn Kinkead of Rock Island, Diane Sears of Mesa, Arizona, David Kinkead of Moline, and Nancy (Kevin) DeVriese of East Moline; grandchildren, Laura (fiancé Adam Guthrie) Tardif of East Moline, Steve Sears of Moline, ReAnna (Jason) Day of Bettendorf, Lynn (fiancé Kevin Cavers) DeVriese of Schaumburg, Illinois, and Anthony (fiancé Megan Leabo) DeVriese of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Addy and Cohen; and a nephew and niece, Robert Sabbe and Jeanette Collins, both of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Paul Michael Kinkead, and a sister, Mary Louise Sabbe.
