George E. Johnson, 86, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Thursday. October 4, 2007, in Bettendorf Health Care Center.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, by 9:40 a.m. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
George Emery Johnson was born February 26, 1921, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of George and Mary Esther (McPhail) Johnson. He married Adrienne A. Boquet on June 26, 1943, in Puget Sound, Washington. She died December 31, 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy on PT Boat 222 during WW II. He was a serviceman for IBM for 30 years. He enjoyed watching golf, basketball, and baseball on television.
George is survived by four sons, Steven Johnson of Moline, Mike Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin, David Johnson of Comanche, Iowa, and Tim Johnson of Bettendorf; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Jewel Schiff, long time companion with whom he shared many fond memories.
