Irene B. Moffitt, 89, of East Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery, Reynolds, Illinois. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church. Memorials may be made to The Arc of the Quad Cities. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is serving the family.
The former Edna Irene Butler was born September 9, 1923, in Autryville, North Carolina, the daughter of Buril and Lula Bell Hall Butler. She married Carl Coleman in 1943, and later married Edward Moffitt. She was employed in the Accounting Department at John Deere for 31 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, past Worthy Matron of Idlewild Chapter of Eastern Star, Preemption, Illinois, a member of the former Lincoln Parents Association, and a volunteer with the Christian Family Care Center and the Adult Literacy Program through Retired Senior Volunteer Program, She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs, and was an avid gardener and enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements.
Irene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Linda Moffitt of Moline; grandchildren, Amy Moffitt of Moline and Bill Moffitt, Jr., and his wife Courtney of Overland Park, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Coleman, Caden, and Coralynn Moffitt; a sister, Thelma White of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and a brother, Delano Butler of Autryville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by a son, James Moffitt; sisters, Elizabeth Sessoms and Christine Davis; and brothers, Curtis, Carlyle, and Basil Butler.
