Coal Valley, Illinois

In 1952, Dwayne E. Blaser was discharged from the U.S. Army, and following a trip across the country, he arrived home on Christmas Day to a joyful family reunion. This Christmas, after 95 years of a life well lived, Dad arrived at another joyful family reunion in his eternal home. 

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities Chapter will present military honors. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, or Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Dwayne Eldon Blaser was born November 4, 1929, in Coal Valley, the son of Albert and Hilda (Anderson) Blaser. He served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator during the Korean War and went on to marry Patricia Ann Miller on June 15, 1968, in Coal Valley. She died January 2, 2021.

Dwayne started farming at a young age alongside his father. He worked for Bear Manufacturing as an automatic punch press operator for 16 years, and continued farming after retiring from Bear.

He was a 70+ year member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed watching Nascar and John Wayne movies, and reading. Dwayne’s passions were farming and his family. He was happiest when he was on his John Deere 630 or spending time with wife, children and grandchildren.

Dwayne is survived by four children, Eliza (Doug) Corbin of East Galesburg, Illinois, Albert Blaser of Coal Valley, James (Shelagh) Blaser of Orion, and Mary (Ahren) Steiger of Coal Valley; nine grandchildren, Hannah (Simon) Gott, Adam (Emily) Blaser, Caroline (AJ) Krack, Dwayne Blaser, Daniel (Audry) Corbin, Allisyn Blaser, Westley Steiger, Laura Corbin, and Emma Steiger; and four great-grandchildren, Henry Krack, Isaac Krack, Charlotte Blaser, and Robert Corbin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; and his sister and brother-in-law, Beryl and Raymond Taylor.
