Moline, Illinois Dudley G. Blunt, 78, of Moline, passed away, Sunday, March 14, 2004, at his home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Reverend A. Parker Lewis will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ, Moline. Dudley was born February 26, 1926, in Coal Valley, to Howard and Katherine Scherer Blunt. He was raised in Moline, and was in the U. S. Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Betty West on December 5, 1943, in Davenport. He retired from John Deere Plow Planter Works with 31 years of service. Dudley was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Moline. When he was young, he loved to fish and hunt. In later years he enjoyed horse racing at the Q.C. Downs. He loved animals, and gardening was his passion. Most of all he loved his family and was proud of them. Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 60 years, Betty; a daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Todd Herbst of Moline; a son, Dudley E. Blunt of Rancho Cucamonga, California; two grandsons, Drew Herbst and his wife Kim of Davenport, and Jacob Blunt of Rancho Cucamonga; great granddaughters, Alysia Erritt and Josie Herbst of Davenport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard Blunt of Davenport, and Gerald and Lee Blunt of Holcomb, Wisconsin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Dodd and Katherine Doss of Moline, Helen and Carlyle Race of Rock Island, and Clarice and Donovan Cramblit of Moline; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
