Dr. Lorraine Marie Rodrigues-Fisher, 79, of Galena, Illinois, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Galena Stauss Nursing Home, Galena, Illinois.
Services are 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 5, in Christ the King Chapel at St. Ambrose University, Davenport. Friends are requested to join the family in wearing Clemson orange or Clemson Tigers clothing to the service. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Viva Quad Cities.
Lorraine Marie Rodrigues was born March 22, 1945, in Danbury, Connecticut, to Alvaro and Alice (Bothelo) Rodrigues. She married Edward D. Fisher in 1966. He died August 26, 2010.
Lorraine earned her undergraduate degree University of Bridgeport, Master’s Degree from South Florida University and Clemson University College of Nursing, before going on to earn her Doctorate of Education from Clemson.
She was a professor at the Clemson University College of Nursing before moving up the academic ranks, serving as Associate Professor of Nursing at the Medical College of Ohio, Dean of Nursing at both Carlow College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. She was Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Maryville University of Saint Louis before concluded her career at St. Ambrose University, where she was the first female officer for the University and served as Academic Vice President until her retirement in 2008.
She was a fan of Clemson University’s sports teams. She enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, and loved her dogs over the years.
Lorriane is survived by her sons, Mark (Terry) Fisher of Birmingham, Alabama, and Robb Fisher of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Patricia and Christopher Fisher; along with relatives in South Carolina, California, Connecticut, and Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
