Douglas R. Morse, 62, of Milan, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at University of Chicago Hospital.
Services to celebrate Doug's life are Saturday, October 20, 2018, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, beginning with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. James Vrba will officiate. The celebration will continue with a hospitality gathering with food and drinks until 7:00 p.m. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to the family.
Douglas Robert Morse was born December 22, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Robert and Darlene (Clayton) Morse. He married Carla Hayes on April 2, 1988, in Coal Valley, Illinois, with whom he had a daughter, Melissa. He later married Julie Stone on October 30, 1999, in Carbon Cliff, Illinois, with whom he had two children, Katherine and Joseph. He was a general contractor for most of his life.
He enjoyed tinkering, carpentry and landscaping. He was a "big car guy" who collected pretty much anything someone could collect. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of Nascar and the Minnesota Vikings.
Doug is survived by his mother, Darlene Clayton of St. Louis; three children, Melissa Morse of Davenport, Katherine Morse of Iowa City, and Joseph Morse of Davenport; two step-sons, who were both very close to him, Ryan Hayes of Geneseo, and Eric Hayes of Milan; grandchildren, Grace, Leila, and Cohen Shelly, and Lillian, Alexis, and Andrew Hayes; brothers, Steven Morse of St. Louis, and Scott Morse of Dallas, Georgia; ½ siblings, Guy Morse, Robin Kiefer, Carol Brown, and Megan Morse; nieces and nephews, Sarah, Kellie, Jessica, Shane, Shawn, Schannel and David Morse; and many cousins in Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his father.
