Dorothy E. Higginson, 84, of Sante Fe, New Mexico, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, and Kankakee, Illinois, died Friday, January 17, 2014, in her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, Illinois. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Dorothy Eloise Crow was born October 25, 1929, in Del Norte, Colorado, to Forest Elsworth and Ruth Sybell Schrader Crow. She married Jack Willard Higginson on April 6, 1952. He died May 15, 1984. She operated Dot's Ceramics out of her home in various cities for over 30 years, making and teaching ceramics, and had been employed at the Arc of the Quad Cities. She was a member of Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island and Bettendorf, Iowa, and was a former member of Phi Theta Kappa, and Eastern Star, and had been a 4-H, Girl Scout and Awana leader. She enjoyed ceramics, oil painting, drawing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, photography, square dancing, Bible study, and had been a church secretary.
Dorothy is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline Higginson of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Judith and Charles Schkerke of Herscher, Illinois, Joan and Eric Bogguess of Pueblo West, Colorado, Jannette Higginson of Davenport, Iowa, and Joyce and Tony Singh of Le Claire, Iowa; grandchildren, Sara Mcintire, Jerami Magana, Sidra Schkerke-Santos, Alexandra Scott and her husband Adrian Scott, Sienn Carter, Taj Carter, Sag'ja Taylor, Aleeza Singh, Jack Singh, and Moselle Singh; great-grandchildren, Maya Magana, Sachi Magana, Nina Tuthill, Dimitrius Scott, Isiayes Olea, and Lakiya Taylor-Miller; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Shirley Crow of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Howard and Linda Crow of Val Rico, Florida.
