Dorothy H. Chilberg, 88, formerly of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, November 5, 2016, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Dorothy Helen Prolow was born July 29, 1928, in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, to Dorance and Helma (Moe) Prolow. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1946, and married Maurice Emil Chilberg on August 19, 1950, in Moline. He died July 25, 1999. She retired as purchasing agent at Williams White Company, Moline. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, for over 50 years, serving as a deacon, in the choir, and in the Women's Association. She belonged to the Red Hat Society. Dorothy was an avid golfer, loved playing euchre and bridge, and had many interests, including gardening, singing, music, traveling, dogs, cooking and entertaining.
Dorothy is survived by three children and spouses, Marty and Stacy Chilberg of Seattle, Washington, Doris and Pat Thompson of Laguna Hills, California, and Wendy and Robert Ruud of Coal Valley; a daughter-in-law, Mary Chilberg of Davenport, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and son, Gary Chilberg.
