Doris M. Walters

Doris M. Walters, 88, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, October 1, 2018, at home.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in Cedarville Cemetery, Cedarville, Illinois. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

The former Doris Mae Heckman was born April 12, 1930, in Cedarville, the daughter of John and Flora (Boehland) Heckman. She married Frank Walters on December 31, 1949, in Freeport, Illinois. She worked at Eagle Warehouse in Milan and then for John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline.

She was happiest when outdoors. She loved gardening, yardwork, flowers, and weeding. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Doris.

Doris is survived by two children, Karen Jo Leaf of Colona, and Lynn Walters of Moline; grandchildren, Stacy (Steve) Hough, Amber (Joe) White, Kristin Leaf, Tara Leaf, and Nick Walters; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Julienne Otts; three other children in infancy; a granddaughter, Sandy Davis; and a great-grandson, Gio Mariscal.
