Dora J. Holland

Dora J. Holland, 83, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12^th Street, Moline, with Dr. Melvin Grimes officiating.  Visitation is one hour prior to services.  Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Dora’s memory.

The former Dora Jean Marshall was born February 11, 1940, in Moline, the daughter of James and Ruth (Gill) Marshall.  She married Alan Holland and the couple had four children prior to his passing in 1993. 

Dora was an L.P.N. for several places including Moline Public Hospital, Lutheran Hospital, and Project Now.  She was also a teacher’s aide at Grant Elementary School in Rock Island and went on to work until retirement at Litton Instruments Company in Davenport. 

She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island, and a former member and Sunday School teacher at Pentecostal Church of God, Davenport.  She loved going to yard sales.  Above all else, family was the most important thing to Dora, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Dora is survived by four children, Kim Hearn, Alan Holland, Dairwin Holland, and LaKesia Holland, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Kala (Tevin) Murray, Napoleon Jackson, Brittica Hearn, Keonica Hearn, Elijah Holland, Kashauna Mccoy, Katera Holland, and Jazmiah Quinn; siblings, William Marshall and Debra Medlock, both of Rock Island; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her longtime companion, Albert Clash, four sisters and two brothers.
