Donald L. Jenkins

Donald L. Jenkins, 47, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 6, 2016.

Services are 7:00 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Prior to services, cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Colona Fire Department.

Don was born November 2, 1968, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of David and Donna (Fargo) Jenkins. He graduated from Moline High School and went on to earn a degree in public relations from Blackhawk College.

He was a training officer for fire and ice rescue for the Coal Valley Fire Department, and most recently for the Colona Fire Department. He was an avid reader, a human fact-checker, and enjoyed unique activities like skydiving and flying airplanes.

Don is survived by his parents, David and Donna Jenkins; two sisters and their husbands, Heather and Joshua Harris, and Brianne Jenkins and Bryan Welsch; all of Coal Valley, nieces, Kensey, Kailyn, and Kamryn Harris, and numerous friends, many of which he had known since childhood.
