Donald L. Callahan, 93, a life-long resident of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 21st Avenue, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating. A funeral luncheon will be held at the church after the service, and burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Donald Leo Callahan was born August 10, 1922, in Moline, to Leo and Alice (Wiedenhoeft) Callahan. He graduated from Moline High School, and served in the U. S. Army during WW II. He married Mary Margaret Vickers on July 29, 1950, in Rock Island, Illinois. He was employed by Deere and Company for 37 years, retiring as Divisional Manager of Parts Catalogs in 1982. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the 42nd Infantry Division, and enjoyed photography.
Don is survived by his son, Jeff Callahan, and two grandchildren, Tamsone Barley and Donald J. Callahan, all of Troy, Illinois.
