Donald G. Farr

Donald G. Farr, 85, of Orion, Illinois, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with Father Tony Ego officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family, for a fund to be established in Don’s memory.

Donald Gerald Farr was born April 27, 1936, in Elmira, New York, the son of Donald “Pete” and Elizabeth (Moss) Farr. He served in the U.S. Air Force and married Sandra Jean Gilmour on December 17, 1966, in Wilmington, Illinois. She died July 7, 2012.

Don worked on the Rock Island Arsenal for many years, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed raising/racing horses and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Teri Farr of Newnan, Georgia, and Todd Farr of Orion, Doreen Farr, Lynn Farr, and Donnie Farr, all of Elmira; grandchildren, Bryan Grimm, Holly Sheehan, Tyler Farr, Allen Sappington, Paige (Hunter) Jones, and Madison Schroeder; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Sappington and Harper Farr; siblings, Elizabeth (Len) Richey, Marge Johns, Floyd Farr, Robert (Cindy) Farr, and Gary (Chris) Farr; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, and his daughter, Traci Farr.
