Donald G. Dau, 75, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, January 4, 2018, in University Hospitals, Iowa City.
A gathering to celebrate Don's life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Knights of Columbus, 1111 W 35th Street, Davenport. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family,
Donald Gene Dau was born March 4, 1942, in Davenport, the son of Arnold and Rose (Murry) Dau. He married Cheryl Ogden on November 9, 1963, in Davenport. He was a master plasterer, beginning his work at 15-years old for his father's company, Dau Plastering. He later worked for Staub Plastering, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Plasterers' Union, and was a collector car enthusiast in his younger years. He was also an avid reader and walked several miles a day with his beloved dog, Max.
Don is survived by his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Staci (Robert) Brown of Muscatine, Iowa, and Kelli (Paul Sanders) Davis of Davenport; three grandchildren, Alyssa Brown, and Nathan and Brea Davis; and a brother, Ronald (Elizabeth) Dau of Dunnellon, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Kara Jean Brown; and a sister, Lillian June Dau.
