Donald C. Sullivan, 80, of Colona, Illinois, died Monday, January 4, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.
A gathering to celebrate Don’s life will be announced at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens.
Donald Carl Sullivan was born February 8, 1940, in Hampton, Illinois, the son of Carl W. and Clara (Wilkins) Sullivan. He married Deanna Day on December 14, 1957, in Metropolis, Illinois.
With his brothers, he owned and operated Sullivan Electric and built homes in Level Acres in Colona. He went on to work at Blaze Restoration, retiring in 2005. He was a hard worker who enjoyed old cars and Volkswagens. Above all else, family was the most important to Don, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Deanna; three children, Donald W. Sullivan, Denise Schmidtlein, and Dina (Dusty Werner) Anderson, all of Colona; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy (Nanci) Sullivan of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Gary (Dayle) Sullivan of East Moline; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darryl Sullivan; a son-in-law, Gabriel Schmidtlein; and two brothers, Leonard and Charles Sullivan.
