Don I. Douglas, 70, of Erie, Illinois, died Friday, June 2, 2006, in his home.
Services are 4 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with Rev. Rob Dye officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Don Irwin Douglas was born May 28, 1936, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Floyd Wayne and Flossie (Cox) Douglas. He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. He married Mildred Huff on June 18, 1955, in East Moline. The couple moved to Erie in 1970. Don worked in the experimental engineering department of International Harvester for 30 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Rock Island Chapter of Bend of the River Barbershop Chorus for 35 years, a member of the Erie Chapter of the Remote Control Flying Club, and was a television repairman for 25 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Mille; five children and their spouses, Sheila and James Sikardi of Erie, Bryan and Donna Douglas of Erie, Carol and Wesley Nutt of Hampton, Illinois, Ruth and Tom Bell of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Linda Douglas and her fiancé John Herrin of Amherst, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister and brother-in-law, Marquetta and Roger Strom of Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
