Dewayne Chad "Bear" Wise

DeWayne Chad “Bear” Wise, 72, of Milan, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Dewayne was born April 11, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa, to Lemaul “Jim” and Luvera “Vera” (Bradley) Wise. He completed up to High School, where he soon enlisted in the US Army in the year 1969, at 21 years old. He served almost a year in Vietnam. Once he got back home, he decided to travel the nation while getting his CDL's and becoming a truck driver.

He absolutely loved his coffee and his Native American heritage. He Married Diana S. Hagood on July 4th, 1979. They were married for a few years. On October 25th of 1999 he Married Rene (Letterman) Wise as his most recent wife, were she had 5 kids that he called his own. He became a family man.

He always had a special place in his heart for his pets. His recent companion’s name was Lucky "Seven" whom was his best friend for years. He worked many jobs to support his family. All of his children meant the world to him. He had a big heart. And was always there if he could be.

Unfortunately in 2016 his health took a turn where he had to have heart surgery. In the years to come he later found out he had Stage 3 Lung Cancer. He fought with every inch of a mile to be here with us.

He is survived by two sisters, Lola Mullery of East Moline and Pamela Griffin of Springfield, Illinois; a brother, Curtis Wise of East Moline; daughters, Angie (Patrick) Wheeler of Geneseo, Illinois, Jennifer Huber of Las Vegas, Tonya (Brian) Baugh of Davenport, and Rachel of the Quad Cities; and sons, Josh (Naomi) Wassell of Moline, Troy Mason of Louisiana, Chad Wise of Rock Island, Joseph Erlitz of Las Vegas, Nathan Vaughn of Davenport, and Nicholas Letterman of Davenport. He also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him.

Bear was such a loving and caring person to be around and will be missed dearly.
