Desyl L. Bloom, 98, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, January 7, 2013, in Rock Island Nursing and Rehab Center, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Stacie Fidlar officiating. Burial is in Andover Cemetery, Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to St. John?s Lutheran Church, Rock Island, or American Cancer Society.
The former Desyl Luella Swanson was born August 24, 1914, in Lynn Center, Illinois, to Carl W. and Antelia Peterson Swanson. She married Robert D. Bloom on June 21, 1941, in Andover. He died December 23, 2004. She worked at Deere and Company and Desaulniers Printing during WW II. She was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church and the Ageless Group at the church, and enjoyed bowling in earlier years.
Desyl is survived by a sister-in-law, Marion Swanson of Silvis, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters, June Hultgren and Irene Youngberg, and brothers, Glenn and Sherman Swanson.
