Dennis L. Wage, 77, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Dennis Lynn Wage was born October 5, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas, to Bill and Doris (Bupp) Wage. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart along with several other medals. He married the love of his life, Cheryl (Miller) Dusenbery on June 26, 1992, in East Moline.
Dennis worked for the Butler County Sherrif’s office in Eldorado, Kansas for 4 years before moving to the Quad Cities and working as a remodeling contractor. He later owned and operated We Care Day Care in Moline with his wife, Cheryl.
He had been a member of Moline American Legion Post #246, and Moline VFW Post #2153. He enjoyed westerns and other movies, and collected coins, stamps and Disney movies. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Dennis, and he especially loved watching and supporting his grandchildren in their sports and activities.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, James Wage of Texas, DeAnna (Glynn) Jones of Kansas, David Wage of Kansas, Jane (Tyler) Carroll of Milan, and Susan Dusenbery of Cape Coral, Florida; 18 grandchildren including Lt. Codey (Amanda) Elmer, US Navy, Dr. Emilie Heggen, Ashlie Heggen, Lynzie Heggen, Keegan Carroll, and Isaiah Martin; many great-grandchildren including Sophey, Brentley, Adalyn and Gracey; and siblings, Lovena Slininger of Moline, Randy (Cindy) Wage of Rock Island, and Tommy (LuAnn) Wage of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Wage.
