David L. Ward, Sr., 77, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, at Celebrate Senior Living of Moline.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Graveside services will be announced in the near future.
David Leo Ward, Sr. was born on December 20, 1947, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Elizabeth (Ezell) Ward, Jr. After high school, Dave joined the United States Army. He served his country honorably during his time in Korea.
Dave spent his life as an automotive professional, earning a reputation as someone who truly touched the lives of everyone he met. Known for his infectious energy and being the life of the party, he brought joy and laughter to those around him.
He had a passion for bowling and dirt track racing, pursuits that reflected his competitive spirit and enthusiasm for life. Dave’s talents extended to the bowling alley, where he competed in multiple national tournaments and countless local events. On the dirt track, he raced at Davenport Speedway and lent his expertise to support racers like Bob Dominacki and Bruce Bennet. Above all, Dave was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family deeply.
He is survived by his beloved son, David (Jada) Ward, Jr.; grandchildren, Sydney, Macie, and Braeden; and a host of nieces and nephews. Dave is now reunited with his parents, Ralph Ward Jr. and Elizabeth Dowler, as well as his siblings Jack, Kathy, and Patricia.
