David N. Carpenter, 74, of Colona, Illinois, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, in Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo, Illinois.
Funeral Mass is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colona, Illinois, with Father Duane Jack officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. A Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church.
David Nelson Carpenter was born October 13, 1938, in Pekin, Illinois, to Basil ?Carp? and Elna Huff Carpenter. He served in the U. S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Sigourney. He married Rose Anderson on February 12, 1960, in Moline, Illinois. He was Field Engineer for Wilbert Funeral Services for 22 years, retiring in 2002. He previously worked with his father at Einfeldt Concrete Products in Moline, and later for Milan Wilbert Vault Company, Milan, Illinois. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colona, and American Legion Post #246, Moline. He loved golfing, fishing, metal detecting, and gambling.
Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose; six children and their spouses, Kelly and Ernie Caras of Moline, Ronald and Lynda Carpenter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, John and Lori Carpenter of Moline, Katherine Bigelow of Moline, Jeffrey Carpenter of Sycamore, Illinois, and Kimberly and Patrick McCarthy of Geneseo; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings and their spouses, Maurice Frank and Linda Carpenter of Buena Vista, Colorado, Kathryn and Ted Olson of Davenport, Iowa, Marjorie and Barry Bisschop of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and Lois Jeanne and John West of Riverview, Florida; and brothers-in-law, Walter Stewart of Mitchellville, Iowa, and Robert Cook of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Cheryl Kay Carpenter, Betty Cook, and Dorothy Stewart.
