Illinois City, Illinois
Our beloved son, David C. "Davey" DeGeeter, 35, of Illinois City, Illinois, died Monday, March 16, 2015. He was a kind and loving man. We are grateful to God for him and trust he is resting in the loving arms of Jesus!
Visitation is 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the Horizon Room in the upper level at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, followed by a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Following cremation at Trimble Crematory, private burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Zachary DeGeeter Education Fund.
David Ceasar DeGeeter was born May 30, 1979, in Moline, the son of David and JoJean (Murphy) DeGeeter. He was a cook at several establishments in the Quad Cities, most recently at the Parkside Grill and the Radisson Hotel, in Moline.
He loved being outdoors, enjoying fishing and gardening. He loved taking his son, Zach, on "Adventures" in the forest preserve, teaching him archery and fishing. He loved his family and friends very much, and was extremely proud of his son.
Davey didn't have much on this Earth, but had something more important: kindness to his fellow man, love, and forgiveness.
Davey is survived by his parents, David and JoJean DeGeeter of Illinois City, who were so very proud of him; his son, Zachary David DeGeeter and his mother, Katie Halfman, of Bettendorf; sisters, Amber DeGeeter and her daughter, Madison Grace Stanley, of Illinois City, Michelle DeGeeter, Rhonda DeGeeter-Russell, and Christina DeGeeter-Wilson and Richie Wilson, all of Tennessee; an uncle who always made Davey laugh, Christopher Murphy of Erie, Illinois; close cousins, Derek and Eric Murphy, Lance Lawson, Rebecca Moody, and Kendra Lawson; many friends, including lifelong friends, Nikki and Jeremy Bettis; and his beloved dog, Buster. He was preceded in death by his grandparents including his Grandma Susie with whom he had a special bond.
"May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Amen"
