Stanley Daryl Hessell, 69, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, in his residence.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Cremation will follow the visitation and private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.
Stanley Daryl Hessell was born December 19, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Irma (Samuelson) and Stanley Logan Hessell. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1957 to 1965. After leaving the service, he was employed at the Rock Island Post Office, retiring as third shift supervisor in 1992. He enjoyed model railroading.
Daryl is survived by his mother, Irma Hessell of Silvis; four sons and their wives, Brad and Diana Hessell of East Moline, Greg and Kimberly Hessell of Hillsdale, Illinois, Doug and Kazumi Hessell of Okinawa, and David and Natalie Hessell of East Moline; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce Pettit of Aurora, Illinois, Margo and Jim Morgan of Coal Valley, and Kathleen Soots of Silvis; and his former wife, Sandra Hessell of Davenport, Iowa.
