Daniel Dean Kruger

Daniel Dean Kruger passed from this earth in his adopted home of Wilmington, North Carolina, on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the age of 80. A memorial was held Saturday, August 20, at Oakwood Cemetery, Greenfield, Illinois.

He is survived by his beloved friend David Nunamacher; his step-children, Robert C. Price II (Caralee), San Clemente, California; Robbin Jean Price (David Dana), Bellevue, Washington; and Jennie Lee Price Voyce (Jonathan), Casa Grande, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his domestic partner of more than 50 years, Robert Conrad Price, aka Conrad McLaren, in 2020.

He was born May 30, 1942, in Geneseo, Illinois, to Earle and Julie Kruger. A graduate of Orion (IL) High School in 1960, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a radio communicator from 1961 to 1965, and upon his return, studied music and theatre at Illinois State University.

Dan began a career as a professional actor in the late 1960's, relocating to New York City and building an extensive resume of theatrical work. His career highlights included roles in the Broadway productions of the Tony-nominated "The Lieutenant" (1975) and "Babes in Toyland" (1979). His off-Broadway credits included "My Fair Lady," "South Pacific," "Finian's Rainbow," "Good News," "Side by Side by Sondheim," "YMCA," "Leaves of Grass," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Under the Yum Yum Tree," "Broadway Scrapbook," and many others.

He spent his retirement years in Milford, Pennsylvania, New Durham, New Hampshire, and Litchfield Park, Arizona, until relocating to North Carolina in 2021.

Dan's warm and giving personality was cherished by all those he knew, and was greatly loved by his extended family. He will be missed.
