Daniel J. Hunemuller

Daniel J. Hunemuller, 76, of Walcott, Iowa, died Friday, April 5, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.   A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Daniel J. Hunemuller was born May 19, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Hugo and Vinona (Lobdell) Hunemuller. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1966, and following graduation served our country in the United States Army. On February 10, 1973, he married Diane Lemke, they had one son Toby, and   later divorced after 29 years of marriage. Dan worked a variety of jobs and joyfully retired in 2013 from Covenant Medical Center where he worked as a custodian.  In 2020, he moved from Waterloo to Walcott to be closer to his son and daughter in-law.
 
Dan will be remembered as a quiet but extremely kind man.   He loved to hear Deb and Pete play music, go fishing with Pete, and enoyed barbecues and meals with family.   His eyes always lit up when he spent time with his granddaughter Mia. 
 
He is survived by his son and daughter in-law, Toby (Heather) Hunemuller; his granddaughter, Mia Hunemuller; and his sister Debra (Pete Kies) Hunemuller. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dianne Shoultz.
