Dan Kirkpatrick, 69, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at home with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer.
Private services will take place in Rock Island National Cemetery, with Pastor Douglas R. Schoonover officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
Michael Dan Kirkpatrick was born July 2, 1940, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Wilbur and Vera (England) Kirkpatrick. He served in the United States Marine Corps for five years. He married Kathryn Scott on June 30, 1994, in Rock Island, Illinois.
Later in life, he received his teaching degree and was a substitute teacher in the Quad City area.
Dan was a devoted and loving father and husband. He also loved his old time country music. Johnny Cash was his favorite of all time. He played in the band ?Fifth of Country? at many night clubs.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Cody Kirkpatrick; step-children, Angela Doss, Melvin (Tonya) Doss, and John Scott III (Gayla); a sister, Billie Shlaes; three daughters from a previous marriage; sisters-in-law, Angela Wincowski and Debra Bushman, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Picashu. He was preceded in death by a his parents, and a brother, Richard Kirkpatrick.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
