Dan Babers, Jr.

Dan Babers, Jr., 90, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at his residence.

Services are 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Bishop Mark Anderson officiating, immediately followed by a hospitality gathering. Cremation will take place following services with private burial at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Humility of Mary Shelter in Davenport.

He was born January 25, 1928, in Louisville, Mississippi, the son of Dan Sr. and Belle (Moore) Babers. He married Minnie Lee Nicholson on February 3, 1951. He worked as a machinist for International Harvester Farmall Plant in Rock Island.

Dan was a member of Church of God Pentecostal Church, Davenport, and enjoyed gardening and playing the lottery. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs' fan.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Minnie; a son, Dan Babers III of Rock Island; grandchildren, Tyla (Thomas) Cole, Angela Babers, Nichol (Jarvis) Rolle-Brown, DeWitt Ford, Jacob Babers, Deon Babers, Danny Robinson, and Richard Rhoden; a host of great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie (Juanita) Babers, and Erma Jean Babers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, DeWitt Babers; a daughter, Dorlette Babers; sisters, Louise Campbell, Lizzie Glenn, and Helen, Corrine, and Ollie Babers; and brothers, Lebow, Robert, R.C., Hubert, Ben, and Eugene Babers.
