Moline, Illinois A memorial celebration for the life of Dale Root Peterson, 92, of Moline will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 19, at First Congregational Church, Moline. The Family will greet friends at a reception following the service. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Dale Peterson died Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "Dale Peterson Memorial, University of Iowa Fdn. for Allergy and Immunology", Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244, or to a charity of your choice. He was born July 17, 1910 in Galva, Illinois, the son of Manfred and Amy (Root) Peterson. Dale graduated from the University of Illinois in 1934. He married Helen Samuelson on December 25, 1935 in Galva. He owned and operated Peterson Fixture Company since founding it in 1947. Dale Peterson was a member of First Congregational Church of Moline and The Congregators of the Church. He was a life member of Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, Moline; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline; Moline; Chapter #258, Order of Eastern Star; Bishop Hill Old Settlers Association; Henry County Historical Society; and University of Illinois Alumni Association. He enjoyed his work, researching family history, and fishing. He caught his record muskie in 1997 in Canada's Lake of the Woods, and was named a Master Muskie Fisherman by In-Fisherman Magazine. Dale is survived by his wife, Helen; four children and their spouses; Sheila D. and Robert Fitts of Rock Island, Jack G. and Faith Young Peterson of Caldwell, Idaho, William M. Peterson and Gail Anne Benson of Whittier, California, and Linnea K. and Dennis Johnson of Taylorsville, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Louise Wertsch of Delavan, Illinois; a brother-in-law Nelson Samuelson of Galesburg, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lyle Peterson. He will also be missed by his many friends and business associates.
