Dale A. Blackman, 63, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, August 26, 2006, in Pathway Hospice at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Oak Glen Home or Arrowhead Ranch.
Dale Allen Blackman was born March 31, 1943, in Moline, the son of Herbert H. and Virginia (Treffert) Blackman. He married Karen L. Knowles on November 9, 1963, in Geneseo, Illinois. He was employed as a factory repairman at John Deere Harvester Works for 40 years. He also owned the Phillips 66 station in Coal Valley and worked for the railroad.
He was a member of UAW Local #865. He loved his family and his cat, Lucky, and enjoyed antique cars, golfing, bowling, reading and writing.
Dale is survived by his wife Karen; three children and their spouses, Kelly Jo Oliver, Drew and Linda Blackman, and Jenifer (J.J.) and Steve Anderson, all of Coal Valley; six grandchildren, Tony Oliver, Spencer, Syd, and Sawyer Blackman, and Morgan and Max Anderson; and his sister, Dianna Jo Bambauer of Alpha, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Paul Kent Blackman, and a granddaughter, Abby Jade Oliver.
