Craig W. Balsar, 60, of Colona, Illinois, died Friday, March 3, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will follow the funeral at Trimble Crematory. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends are invited to join the family at a luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the funeral. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Craig Balsar Memorial Fund which will be used for a permanent memorial in his name.

Craig Wayne Balsar was born October 7, 1956, in Quincy, Illinois, to Milton Wayne and Shirley Louise Rand Balsar. He graduated from Buda Western High School and attended Marycrest University. He married Cynthia Barnett Burns on October 14, 1984, in Ormond Beach, Florida, and they were later divorced. He married Carol Grotegut Richardson on May 3, 1997, in Bettendorf, Iowa. He was a licensed insurance producer and sold supplemental cancer insurance for Platinum Services and Family Heritage. He loved his dogs, took pride in his yard, and had many interests including music, sports, auctions, shooting, fishing, and the outdoors. Most of all, he was a devoted family man, who always put his wife and children first.

Craig is survived by his wife, Carol; four children, Robert Burns, Jr. of Milan, Illinois, Brandon Balsar of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cayla Balsar of Many Farms, Arizona, and Drew Richardson and his girlfriend Rachel Cox of Colona; a granddaughter, Tabatha Burns; his mother, Shirley Lucas of Davenport, Iowa; siblings and spouses, CJ (Cathy Jo) Albertson of Davenport, Conda and Dave McFee of Channahon, Illinois, and Clint and Ticia Balsar of Park View, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Balsar; his step-father, Arthur Lucas; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Albertson.
