Coralie Taylor, 91, of Rock Island, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Services are 10:30 AM Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park, Rock Island. Memorials may be given to either Edgewood Baptist or to a charity of one?s choice.
The former Coralie Gravitt was born June 13, 1914, in Cairo, Missouri, the daughter of Lagone and Margaret (Jackson) Gravitt. Coralie married Garland Ray Balmer on March 13, 1930. He died August 17, 1963. She then married Norval Taylor on October 17, 1970. He died April 24, 1976. Coralie served in numerous capacities, both in the Quad Cities and in California. During WWII, she worked at John Deere, East Moline, then later moved to Burbank, California, to work at Lockheed Aircraft. She later returned to the Quad Cities and was employed at Oak Glen Nursing Home, Coal Valley, then volunteered at Lutheran Hospital, Moline for many years. Her life revolved around her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Leah Balmer of Silvis; three grandsons, Michael Balmer of New Liberia, LA, David and Angie Balmer of Evansville, WI, and Steven and Melissa Balmer of Omaha, NE; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Balmer, Brandi Balmer, Misty Kernan, Olivia Balmer, Anthony Balmer, and Makaela Balmer; two great-great-grandsons, Damon and Marcus; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Gravitt of East Moline, and Marie Gravitt of Coal Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant so, Garland James Balmer; five sisters, Thelma, Minnie, Elsie, Nellie, and Stella Mae, and five brothers, Carl, Arthur, Elmer, James, and Albert.
