The former Cora Ruth Dehls was born June 24, 1940, in Pleasant Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of Leslie Carl and Elizabeth (Casteel) Dehls. She was the oldest graduate of the Blackhawk College Nursing Program, earning her LPN in 2003. She worked several jobs in the medical field and also for the Rock Island Arsenal.
Cora was a genuinely good person who had a positive attitude. She absolutely loved books and was a frequent guest of the Moline Public Library. When she was no longer able to read, she enjoyed listening to books on tape.
Cora is survived by three sons, Ronald Ruiz of Bastrop, Texas, Marty King of Andalusia, and Daniel Hurtado of Elkhart, Indiana; many beloved grandchildren and their families; and siblings, Jean Dehls of East Moline and Stan (Carrie) Dehls of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by two children, Kathleen King and James “Taco” Hurtado; and siblings, Joel Dehls, Terrence Dehls, and Shirley Thomas.
