Colleen M. Genung, 75, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory prior to services. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
The former Colleen Marie Covert was born August 4, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John and Frances (Cieslak) Covert. She was married to Dean P. Genung, who preceded her in death on November 5, 2018. Previously, she had been married to Gerald Papish and Ralph Johnson. She worked as a scheduler for John Deere for over 30 years.
She enjoyed boating, basketball, yard sales and collecting. Most of all she liked helping others and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Colleen is survived by a son, Jeff (Sherri) Papish of East Moline; a granddaughter, Whitney; three step-grandchildren, Nicole, Megan, and Jimmy; one great-grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Staci Steward, whom she raised and was like a mother to her, and her daughters, Katherine and Emma, and Kelly Scherf; and a sister, Francine Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Jodi Papish; and siblings, Norman and Ronald Covert, and Regina Horton.
