Clinton R. Butterfield

Clinton Ray Butterfield, 69, of Moline, Illinois, joined his lord and savior in heaven on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones.

A private celebration of life will be held at his home. Christine will be planting two trees as a memorial to Clint if you wish to contribute.

Clint was born on Nov. 4th, 1951 to Ray and Martha Butterfield in Moline, Illinois. After graduating from Riverdale High School in 1969, he went on to study road construction at University of Illinois. Most of his career was spent at the City of Moline Water Department from which he later retired.

In 1971, he met Christine Engstrom, and they wed on June 24, 1972, going on to have two daughters, Carrie and Kimberly.

In his younger years, Clint was an avid baker and known in the family for making homemade pies and pizza. He enjoyed movies from westerns and action flicks to wacky comedies. You could always count on him to share a joke.

He spent his time with Christine landscaping and enjoying the lovely nature of their yard, loyal lap-dogs Abbie and Mandy and doting on his beloved grandchildren as much as possible. A man of Wesleyan faith, he was a member of “The Gathering” church in Moline, IL.

Clinton was preceded in death by his mother Martha, sister Patricia and father Ray. He is survived by wife Christine, daughters Carrie (Bill Fuhr) Bettendorf, IA; Kim Hemphill Silvis, IL; grandchildren Adison & Aidan Hemphill; Madeline and Will Fuhr; sister Carolyn, Geneseo, IL and multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
